Have never really heard anything about controllers other than PS/Xbox and Logitech. Me I picked up an Xbox with two controllers and a couple of game for £35 some time back, but I also got a new one before that and thats all I really use. Having a search around you can get non-branded ones for next to nothing:Īlthough they wouldn't be as good as the real thing. Compatability seems second to none (never had any issues, though did with Logitech although that was a bit more comfy). Nightcraw1er.488: Well, I know you said not Xbox 360, however for me I wouldn't use any other. I tend to prefer Keyboard and mouse too, but as I game on a laptop (on a couch) mouse isn't always easy and a controller can be more comfortable (as well as just being easier for some games and genres anyway).Īs long as it has four shoulder buttons and four face buttons that's most of the way there, but a lot of the games with controller support I've tried to play also use the Xbox's back and start button and thumb stick buttons which is where my Gamecube controller falls short as it's lacking a few of those. Thanks, I'm leaning towards that one just because it's cheap.
There is a download available on Logitech's site that will allow you to customize the functions of the buttons on the controller.

I will check and update later.īuildwise it felt adequately sturdy for its price. Also a reviewer on Amazon says that it has "LS and RS buttons", so I guess its alright. So I can't really remember if there are analog stick buttons or not, as far as I remember there are. I bought the controller for platformers and stuff and it was cheap. I feel more comfortable with Keyboard+Mouse.

So does anyone have any suggestion for a good non Xbox style controller for under £30? Preferably one with as many buttons as an XBox one so I can emulate it correctly and that will set up on PC reasonably easily.īhrigu: I have the Logitech F310, but haven't used it to play any games yet. The best option, for cheapness anyway, seems to be the Logitech F310 but I'm not sure if it has all the buttons an XBox controller does (like clicking the analog sticks) which makes it pointless if it doesn't. I'd wait till I get a Switch and use the Joycon (which is apparently possible) but I probably won't be getting one of those for another 4 or 5 months at least and I'd like something sooner.

I'd love something Nintendo styled, as I find their controllers comfortable, but their new pro controllers do seem to be styled on the XBox ones anyway so I'm not sure anything styled on that would be any different. The easiest option seems to be an XBox controller, but while an old wired 360 one seems reasonably cheap (£30) I've never liked the XBox controllers and have always found them really uncomfortable.Īdmittedly my experience with them stems from the original giant ones for the first XBox but I don't really want to spend £30 to find out I don't like it.Īll the various comparison sites online just suggest PS or XBox controllers, which would be fine if I had either console and had the controllers anyway, but I'm not shelling out upwards of £60 for a controller just for a few games. And I tried my Wii U Gamepad but the lag is atrocious using the web app hack so it's no good. I have been using an old Gamecube controller with a PC hub thing, but I find that for most recent games it doesn't actually have enough buttons to work properly.
